For the first couple of months prior to the release of the Heatblur F-14B and the opening of VF-11, VFA-81 was the sole dealer of death to the enemies of the United States. Currently presided over by Commander C. “Joker” Binder and his Executive Officer, Commander "Flatline" Marauder, VFA-81 has a robust command structure and roster of seasoned and dedicated pilots who are always looking to help others get familiar with this fantastic airframe. If you are looking for: the best multicrew experience DCS has to offer, working as a team to get the job done, and flying in arguably the most iconic USN aircraft to grace the skies, then the VF-11 Red Rippers are for you. We fly the excellent Heatblur F-14 Tomcat in a variety of mission types from CAP to A-FAC and look good doing it. We are always looking for new Pilots and RIO’s to join our ranks. We regularly have a full complement of human Pilot/RIO pairs in missions and encourage our members to cross qual in both pits. If you’re a pilot but interested in learning how to RIO, our top-notch instructors will be happy to show you the ropes. Whether you're a seasoned veteran of the Hornet and looking for some new wingmen, or new to DCS and interested in trying out the F/A-18C, VFA-45 can accommodate. From cockpit familiarization to admin flight procedures through tactical weapons employment in all the multitude of missions the Hornet can tackle, you can be sure to learn something and have a fun time doing it with the Spartans. We focus on flying together, so you'll be able to learn your own systems and have a capable flight lead to take care of you and watch your six at the merge. Interested in taking it further?
